Can deliver anywhere on Okinawa

Back when I was in Okinawa , we could buy a dependable car for less than a grand . ($1000.00) for those who don’t khow what a grand is. But I’ m sure it is a good buy now . I was there in 1986 until 1988 . While I’m responding …is there still a bar near by on a Navy Base called “THE CROW’S NEST ” ?

Nowadays, dealers that cater to USFJ folks tend to import vehicles they buy at auction on the mainland, putting sticker prices on them in the $5000 ballpark. And the Kadena lemon lot (largest group of privately owned used vehicles for sale) has prices that range from $300 for a piece of junk to over 10-grand for a late model European car or something along those lines, but the average rust-free mid-sized vehicle (like mine!) is in the $3000-4000 range. Finding a vehicle on this island is quite a slice of uniqueness, in my experience. In fact, we’re only selling this vehicle because a coworker of my wife’s GAVE us his 91 Toyota Lite Ace (a van). It’s a little beat (& we’ll be beating it some more) but no known problems (well, I’d like to put in a CD player & some non-rattling mold-free front speakers). Craziness!!
There is still a Crow’s Nest club over on Camp Shields or maybe White Beach, I think! At least, it sure does ring a bell. Good place to get a cold one?

It used to be . I remember some pretty big fights breaking out there ,usually started by a Marine, but mostly a good time for all if you liked country music. I now own my own bar and cafe . When ever I hear a Dwight Yokam song in my place , it brings back some great memories of the Crows Nest and my old buddies. I got on this web site to see if anyone I used to be stationed with could be found, but I guess they don’t know how to “surf” yet .

The Crows Nest was still standing when I left October 2006. So if you ever go back, the bar is still there to enjoy a few beers with some of the newer kids.
