E. A. Cooper mentionedGeneral Smedley Butler's book War is a Racket and I can tell you that by simply going to Google and write "War is a Racket" you will be able to download his entire speech and it is terrific - and so was he.

It's fun to read all the comments about Okinawa, I'm writing a short essay for my English class on a experience that I happen to me, I'm 58 going back to school, so I was looking for things to add to it and help me to remember more things about Okinawa. I was stationed there twice, first time at Camp Shields-I think it is called. A Navy Seabee Base. Then again in 1971-72 at Naha, Navy Seabee Public Works Dept. I have some find exploring the old caves, riding my motorcycle up the lsland sightseeing.

Go to Amazon.com and select "books" then key in the title "B.C. STREET." It's beautiful, if I do say so myself. When you read it, you will realize that not much changes. Government and military run by corporate greed is an old song still sung by those in power. Gen. Smedley Butler had it right, "War is a Racket." . . . E. A. Cooper

I hope you are well my friend. Not many people use this site. I just talked my niece into joining the U.S. AIR FORCE ! She is 34 years old and has been let down by all who have tried to lead her. So I said to myself, "why not teach her to lead herself" . Thats when I suggested a path you and I have already traveled, and she is all for it !!! I think we will need a much stronger defense after the Bush administration has left office. I like your plan to bring in Mexico and Canada but I think we should also let Cuba in our "alliance" after all ......( here is one of my cliche's)....'THE BIGGER THE BUFFER THE BETTER"
     YOU ARE 86
I JOINED THE MILITARY IN 1986
     I LEFT COLLEGE IN '86
And as I remember ...If one 86's something ...it means to get rid of it ...or get out of the sun

                             OR GET A HAT!!
PS. I DRINK ALOT

My own cliche's
MEN ARE PIGS.... BUT WOMEN LOVE BACON !!

IF A GIRL CRANKS YOUR TRACTOR... PLOW HER GARDEN

PEOPLE WHO NEVER GROW OLD .. DON'T LIVE VERY LONG

as for our present course......we shall do as the Romans..... fall to the peasants if we do not show compassion to the "down trodden". My "three ring circus " I refered to, is the battle of the three major religions....They will never agree , so I think a more scientific approach will eventually prevail.

And you are right about one thing....I should wear a hat when I am out in the sun.
You may be twice my age ...but you are probably twice the man I'll ever be.

First, Phillip Herron's over-whelming cliche collection left me in a quandary as to whether he was was wearing a hat or maybe he was too long in the sun.

Meanwhile, I will stick with my "Times are changing and 62 years is enough." I suggest you use your powers of extrapolation to speculate the consequences of our present course.

EVERYONE Should go to a nuetral corner. Shoot only when you can see the whites of "their" eyes...only then can you see the damage you have done . Don't let CNN sway you !! You don't have to have or choose a faith ...Step outside of the three ring circus and let them kill each other . " If you don't belong ...you can't be wrong!!!"
