I was Counseling secretary at Kubasaki from 1973-75.  I loved that job and the environment.  I was there when we had our first “streaker”!  Oh, those days were fun.  I worked with Fujiko Takushi and she was great.  The counselors were Lavina Hoogeveen, Mr. Bennett, Dottie Liston and Ramona Wilson.  Mr. Weldon was Principal, Mr. DeCarlo and Mr. Kasic were Asst. Principals.   It was one of the best experiences of my life being on the island and getting to know people there and especially to work at the high school. 

At the time, there were over 1200 students but that was all the kids from Kadena also.  They didn’t have the school there then.  We had a bunch of tuition-paying students and I had to keep up with all those payments, etc. 

 Anyway I love reading anything about KHS.

Dear Sir/Madam:

 I am writting this message in hope to find a Okinawa dancers to perfrom for our 9th Annual Asia Pacific New Year Celebration in Tacoma Dome, Exhibition Hall in Washington State on Saturday, February 10, 2007.

I was in Okinawa with my family in 1971-74 at Sukiran, and witness the change the country went through.  I know they have strong Okinawa culture, and the Asia Pacific Cultural Center(APCC) is just that, showing and educating our Asia Pacific Cultures to others who are interest in knowing.

 We are nonprofit organization established in 1996, representing 47 Asia Pacific countries.  Please see our website @ www.asiapacificculturalcenter.org
