I was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa from March 1989 to March 1991. My favorite pastime during my two years there was dancing to live country music at the crow’s nest. I’m putting this out there to see if I can get in touch with some of my old running buddies. I had a few Air Force friends, but most of my friends were Marines stationed there. I’d sure like to hear from anyone out there. Beth

I served in US ARMY June 1958 thru Nov 1959 at Sukiran.
Served with USARYIS Signal Group with duty at Headquarters
Facility. Arrived there as a PFC and left as Corporal. Played
lot of basketball at Fieldhouse(forgot name) Loved my stay
there although I was away from my family. Okinawa was
and still is a beautiful place, nice beaches beautiful scenery.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone that may have been
around during this period. I retire from the Army as a CW4
and currently enjoying my benefits.(Harold Pope)

I know I’ll get an argument, but it is time to go home and defend our own country. I suggest we bring in Canada and Mexico and build a United States of North America and let the rest of the world fight amongst themselves. I want a life without this continual war - war- war.

I made the post where-in I suggested that I was well known and I could find your “daughters” because a previous post was looking for a Ryukyuan sister. I am presently helping a daughter who was looking for her father. Unfortunately this previous poster did not include her e-mail address, but I did include mine, hoping to hear from her. So far all I only heard from a wise guy who wants to be a smart ass. This is why the first Virtual Okinawa failed. If we want the present VO to succeed we must get serious. I have ben quite successful in my searches in spite of those who want to be cutesy

I have lived on and off Okinawa for the past 62 years and enjoyed the original Virtual Okinawa until a group of radicals screwed it up. Ten years have gone by and I note Virtual Okinawa is back and it looks good. My forte is finding old friends and even lost daughters. I am very well known and my e-mail is mwsteele@neteze.com

19 and transfered to Kadena from Komaki AFB outside Nagoya in 1957. Sleepy place after the mainland but it’s beauty and snorkling were amazing.
Returned as a tech rep with Philco Ford in 67 to work in Futenma. Things had heated up and it was a fascinating place. Federal Electric took the contract and I signed on with them. Married Nobuko and had 2 children born at the Camp Kue hospital and bought a house not far from Nakagusuku Castle. Story book existence that ended in 1973. Back for visits while working in Taegu, Korea. Many feel as I do that it was a gift to have known Okinawa.
